Rajasthan: Upset over not having a son, women kills 5 daughters, ends life

In Rajasthan's Barmer district, a mother of 5 daughters committed suicide including her five daughters by jumping into a well. As per the police, the deceased mother was identified as Vanu Devi and her daughters Santosh, Mamta, Mena, Hansa, and Hemlata. The mother was upset about not having a son which led her to take such a step. SP Rashi Dogra said, "I would like to appeal that suicide isn't the answer. Share trouble with companions, the solution will definitely come. If the people of the house do not listen then share it with neighbors and others. In such cases, awareness campaigns are necessary." Deepika Padukone: Took up 83 as I have seen my mother support my father

Deepika Padukone opens up on her roles in her two big upcoming films Chhapaak and 83. The actress in 83 will play the role of Kapil Dev's wife Romi Bhatia. Deepika's husband Ranveer Singh is playing the role of Kapil Dev in the film. Like Kapil Dev, Deepika's father, Prakash Padukone, former Indian badminton player, is also one of the renowned faces of the sports fraternity. "I play the role of Romi Dev, wife of Kapil Dev in the movie and she was instrumental in Kapil Dev’s success, especially when he was the captain. "I always feel that in an athlete’s life the wife and family sacrifice a lot of their dreams to support the vision of the athlete, the goals that they set and they end up sacrificing their career. My mother had been supportive of my father in his career. I took up this role to see the human side of the success of an athlete," she said. Src- https://bit.ly/2ZNJkz8

Union Law Minister on Triple Talaq Bill: Deterrence is A Must to Fight Social ill

Union law minister Ravi Shankar Prasad indicated on Thursday that there will be no doubts to make instant triple talaq a criminal offense, saying that “some degree of deterrence is inherent when you reform these social ills”. The government has introduced a bill in the Lok Sabha that proposes to make the practice an offense punishable with imprisonment for up to three years with a fine. The legislation was passed by the 16th Lok Sabha but it lapsed in the Rajya Sabha amid protests by the Congress and other opposition parties. “For the Congress party, led by a distinguished woman leader, to be ambiguous on the issue of triple talaq is shocking, to say the least,” he added.
