Why did we take such step earlier which has to be taken back now?: Mayawati raises question on corporate tax cut

Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati raised questions over the Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman's announcement on slashing tax on corporate companies. Mayawati on her Twitter handle stated, "The Central Govt is terming the reduction in corporate tax announced today as historic and claiming that it will end the country's economic slowdown and crisis. May it be so and the serious crisis that has come over people's livelihood should end. But the basic question is, why did we take such a step earlier which has to be taken back now?" This comes hours after Sitharaman announced tax cuts and fiscal reliefs saying that domestic corporate tax has been slashed to an effective 25.17%, inclusive of all surcharges and cess. All surveys in India and across the world says that the economy is in bad condition. If we have a problem, then instead of criticising, we should give positive suggestions". Pilot further said that in today's date too much of cost-cutting has already taken place, everyone will have to work very hard to reverse it. "First, we should accept that figures are down in the auto sector or any other sector, today's biggest problem is unemployment", he added. Src: https://bit.ly/2kTRyqz
