Uttar Pradesh : Policewoman commits suicide after being harassed by two colleagues

In Uttar Pradesh’s Jaunpur district, a policewoman committed suicide after being harassed by her two colleagues. As per media reports, the policewoman has been identified as Neetu Yadav, who hung herself from the roof of a barrack in police lines in City Kotwali Police Station area on late Sunday night. The Additional SP Sanjay Yadav said, “She had left a suicide note in which she has charged harassment done by her colleague, and also mention that she had gone through physical as well as mental harassment by them.” He added that the body had been sent for post mortem examination and the probe is going on. Chidambaram slams PM Modi over his 'everything is fine in India' statement in Houston

Former Finance Minister P Chidambaram slammed PM Narendra Modi over his statement 'everything is fine' in different Indian languages at 'Howdy, Modi!' event in Houston. Chidambaram, on his Twitter handle, stated, "Everything is fine in India, except for unemployment, loss of existing jobs, lower wages, mob violence, lockdown in Kashmir and throwing Opposition leaders in prisons". Six died due to panic over NRC, will never allow it in Bengal: Mamata Banerjee

West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, while speaking at a Trade Union meeting, stated, "I am sad that 6 people have died in Bengal due to panic created over NRC. We will never allow NRC here. Please have faith in me". Banerjee further spoke on clashes at Jadavpur University, and added, "I believe protests are important in a democracy. The day protests lose their value, India will stop being India. Democracy still exists in Bengal while there is no democracy at a few places. We have seen what happened at Jadavpur University". Unique multi-purpose identity card is possibility: Amit Shah

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, while addressing a function to lay the foundation stone for a new building in New Delhi to house the Registrar General of India (RGI), stated that India could have a single multi-purpose unique card that will serve as an identity card and double up as a voter card, PAN, and even a passport. Shah further said, “We do not have the scheme to introduce a multi-purpose identity card but this a possibility.” As per media report, Amit Shah’s announcement of a multi-purpose identity card and many statements promising like Assam citizen list renew the possibility that the population register could be revived. The reports added that to enable a citizens register is already in place as the Citizenship Act empowers the Centre to compulsorily register every citizen and issue multi-purpose national identity cards.
