Chinmayanand arrested under lower section, not satisfied: UP Law student

Recently a UP law student who had accused BJP leader Swami Chinmayanand of rape, has claimed that she isn’t satisfied with the current outcomes, as leader’s arrest was made under weaker sections of the IPC (376 C & 376). As per the media reports, Under section 376, the minimum punishment is of 7 years of imprisonment that can extend up to life term. However, under section 376 C, there is a minimum punishment of five years that can extend up to 10. She also claimed that “Chinmayanand was shielded till now from arrest despite my statements and proof against him. Noida: A bus driver fined for driver not ‘wearing a helmet’

Recently a bizarre incident had registered in Noida, where a bus from transporter was fined for not wearing a helmet. The owner identified as Nirankar Singh was asked to pay a fine of Rs 500. Nirankar Singh over this matter said, “We have more than 80 private buses with NCR permits. A person is employed by us just to check the fines collected by our vehicles and he came across this particular fine. It was issued for one of our buses with an NCR permit. Obviously, we were shocked to find a bus getting a “no-helmet” fine.” He also added that this was not the first incident of him receiving an inappropriate fine. Src: https://bit.ly/2mkfkfE

Andhra Pradesh: 70 students fall ill after consuming hostel food

In Andhra Pradesh's Visakhapatnam city, around 71 students at Sri Chaitanya Girls College fell ill allegedly after consuming food in the hostel mess. As per media reports, after consuming food, the students complained of vomiting and uneasiness. Later, students were hurried to the hospital for medical treatment and were diagnosed with food poisoning. The reports added that the parents staged a protest and accused the college administration of not providing proper drinking water and food to students after charging lakh of rupees for hostel and tuition fee. NRC won't come to Bengal, nobody will be pushed out: Mamata Banerjee

West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, while accusing the BJP of using National Register of Citizens (NRC) as a political tool, stated, "BJP has negatively publicised NRC. They are promoting it as a political tool. NRC will not come to Bengal. Nobody will be pushed out of Bengal. People who have been living in Bengal for so many years, they will stay here the same way". Banerjee further urged the people of West Bengal to check their names in the new voter list which is being renewed by the state govt and asked the people to have faith in her. "NRC will not happen here", she added. Earlier on August 31, the final NRC list was published for Assam, around 3,11,21,004 people have been found eligible for inclusion in final list leaving out 19,06,657 people, including those who didn't submit their claims.
