J&K and Ladakh make wearing face masks mandatory

According to the General Administration Department (GAD), face masks have been made mandatory for all the officers, staff and visitors in the Civil Secretariat as a preventive measure to stop the spread of coronavirus. The Civil Secretariat is presently functional as part of the bi-annual darbar move, under which the government functions six months each in Jammu and Srinagar during winter and summer months. District Magistrate, Leh, Sachin Kumar Vaishya has ordered the general public as well as the government officials (both civilian and armed forces) to mandatorily wear the face masks at public places without any exemption. COVID-19 does not discriminate on basis of caste, religion: WB CM Mamata Banerjee

While speaking to reporters in Kolkata, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that COVID-19 does not discriminate on the basis of caste or religion. She said,"We have been witnessing that some people are indulging in communal politics over Nizamuddin event. This is completely unacceptable.” She further asked, "Why the gathering was not stopped when it was happening? This is not the time for communal politics.” On reports about the possibility of the 21-day nationwide lockdown getting extended, Ms Banerjee said she is not aware of any such proposal as of now. Traffic policeman in Delhi tests positive for Coronavirus

Amid Coronavirus outbreak, a traffic police officer has tested positive for Coronavirus in Delhi. The 49-year-old police officer was posted in Hauz Khas circle of the traffic unit. He was taken to AIIMS on April 1 for a check-up after he complained of having a cough and fever. On 7th April, he was tested and was found positive. Coronavirus suspects spat inside hospital in Assam

In Assam, several people who have been quarantined in the district civil hospital allegedly spat all over inside the quarantine ward as well as outside through the windows on Friday. The incident took place before state Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma's visit to the hospital. 42 people were quarantined as they came in close contact with 8 who were infected with coronavirus and were present in religious congregation in Delhi's Nizamuddin.
