IOA cannot take unilateral decision to pull out of 2022 CWG: Sports Minister

Sports Minister Mr. Kiren Rijiju during Yesterday's conference talked about the Commonwealth Games Federation's decision about leaving shooting out and inclusion of three new sports. Rijiju said, "I haven't discussed with the shooting federation. Officially I don't know about their position. If you have to boycott, you have to ask the government because these decisions are not to be taken unilaterally, it has to be done through proper consultation."

Will extend all support to women's hockey team: Sports Minister

On Tuesday, Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju met with India's women hockey team. In which Mr. Rijiju assured that the Government will go the extra mile to justify the responsibilities to provide support for Olympic qualification. In his own words, he said, "The ministry will extend all support to players, both individually and as a team. I'll visit their training center in Bengaluru to meet their coaches and discuss the requirements of the team".

In the first match of India against South Africa in the ICC Cricket world cup tournament MS Dhoni, the former Indian skipper worn gloves which had a symbol of Indian Army over it. The picture instantly went viral over social media. When ICC heard this they had asked BCCI to change the gloves, as it was breaking the equipment code of conduct. When The Sports Minister of India Kiren Rijiju heard that he stated “I am hopeful that BCCI will take up this matter with ICC and will solve this matter. MS Dhoni’s identity is the country’s identity, the army’s identity and it is not politics. So, BCCI should stand with Dhoni”

No plans to repeal AFSPA: Union Minister Kiren Rijiju

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju has said that the government has no plans to repeal the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act (AFSPA), 1958. He added the notifications declaring Manipur and Assam as 'Disturbed Areas' have been issued by the state governments. He said the Nagaland state government has not supported the extension of notification declaring Nagaland as 'Disturbed Area' under AFSPA. Source: TOI
