Jammu and Kashmir DGP Dilbag Singh, while addressing a press conference, expressed, "We are very close to normalcy. If you take the entire region into account, all 10 districts of Jammu have become entirely normal, all school, colleges, and offices are open. Leh and Kargil are also normal, there is no restriction of any kind there". Singh further said that more than 90% areas are free of restrictions and 100% telephone exchanges are working now. Kashmiri leaders can challenge their detention in court, no one charged with criminal offence: NSA Ajit Doval

National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval, while briefing media on the ground situation in Kashmir after the abrogation of Article 370 and subsequent lockdown, stated, "We are determined to protect the life of Kashmiris from Pakistani terrorists even if we have to impose restrictions, terror is the only instrument Pakistan has to create unrest". Commenting on the detention of political leaders in Kashmir, Doval added, "None of them have been charged with criminal offence or sedition. They are in preventive custody till environment is created for democracy to function, which I believe may happen soon". He further added that everything has been done according to the law, the detained political leaders can challenge their detention in court. Earlier, several mainstream leaders of Kashmir, including People's Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti and National Conference leader Omar Abdullah, have been placed under preventive detention since the abrogation of Article 370 (August 5, 2019). States will have to become principal agents of growth to help achieve India’s target of becoming a USD 5 trillion economy, Niti Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant said on Saturday. Kant said states have to work together to radically transform India. Kant further said that PM Modi is massively focusing on the target of becoming a USD 5 trillion economy by 2024 and then a USD 10 trillion economy by 2030. “It will not be possible for India to achieve this till states do not aim to double and triple their GDPs,” he said. Goa chief swimming coach charged with rape after photos of him molesting a teen surfaced

A rape case has been filed against the chief coach of Goa state swimming team, who was sacked after photos and a video of him allegedly molesting a minor girl emerged online. The photos of the alleged incident have prompted Union Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju to promise stringent action against him. "Stringent action will be taken through Sports Authority. Firstly, it's a heinous crime of serious nature so I'll urge the Police to take stringent penal action against the coach urgently," he tweeted.
