JD(U) backs Article 370 after opposing it

BJP's key ally Janata Dal (United) on Wednesday announced its support to the Centre's move to abrogate Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir. Senior JD-U leader RCP Singh after opposing the move said that when any law comes into force, it becomes a law of the country and all should accept it. Singh explained the reason why JD-U had opposed the scrapping of Article 370 and said, "We have attachment for Article 370 and opposed its scrapping because we do not want to hurt the soul of George Fernandes". Will oppose Triple Talaq Bill in Rajya Sabha: JD(U) leader

Bihar CM Nitish Kumar's party and BJP ally Janata Dal-United opposed the BJP-led NDA government at the centre on the issue of Triple Talaq in the Rajya Sabha. Senior JD(U) leader and Bihar minister Shyam Razak, said, "JD(U) opposed it and we will continue to stand against it." He further said, Triple Talaq is a social issue and it should be resolved by the society at the social level. He added, it was the JD(U) that voted against the Triple Talaq Bill in the Rajya Sabha. Earlier, Nitish Kumar had publicly opposed the Triple Talaq Bill.

No point of blaming Mamata, time to take stern actions on illegal immigrants issue: JD(U) Slams BJP

Amid political rift between BJP and Janata Dal (United), the Nitish Kumar led JD(U) criticized and passed a sarcastic comment on BJP and Amit Shah. The party spokesman, Ajay Alok tweeted, ” Blaming Mamata Banerjee won’t work. The government needs to tighten its statecraft especially when Amit Shah is the home minister. It’s extremely important to ban illegal immigration. When, if not now?”.

Complaint filed against Lalu Prasad Yadav for distributing party ticket despite jail term.

The Janata Dal-United Spokesperson Neeraj Kumar complained Election Commission of India against RJD leader Lalu Yadav, who is facing a jail term for fodder scam case. A letter written to EC read, “Has Lalu Prasad Yadav who is a convict in fodder scam case, took permission from ECI before signing in to distribute tickets? If not, then ECI should declare illegal the candidature of those who have obtained his signature to fight Lok Sabha polls”.
