West Bengal police shoots 3 BJP workers for chanting “Jai Shri Ram”

Bhartiya Janta Party alleged that three of its party worker sustained bullet injuries after West Bengal police fired at them for chanting religious slogans at Panchasayar in Bankura district. The incident was reported after a clash broke out between BJP and TMC workers. This was in response to a group of BJP workers chanting ‘Jai Shri Ram’ during TMC MP Suvendu Adhikary’s public meeting in Bankura. A 14-year-old also sustained injuries in the firing.

Smriti Irani distributes laptops to 240 'Lekhpals' in Amethi

In Uttar Pradesh's Amethi, Union Minister for Women and Child Development, Smriti Irani went to an event for a group baby shower and 'Annaprashana'. Irani, at the event, distributed laptops to 240 Lekhpals (Village Accountant Officers) of the district. Earlier, Irani stated that she would build her house in Gauriganj town of her constituency which will make her more reachable to the people. Irani declared her decision in front of Uttar Pradesh Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya at the inauguration of the Rs 30 Cr. road project.

Cop killed by Maoists in Chhattisgarh

A policeman was killed by Maoists at a weekly market in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district on Sunday. The incident took place around 2 pm when assistant constable of Mirtur police station Chaitu Kadti went to the market along with his family members. Four Maoists abruptly stabbed Kadti, killing him on the spot, and fled the scene. Kadti's family was not hurt. On receiving the information, a police team rushed to the spot and sent the body for post-mortem. A search is underway to nab the assailants.

Senior Air India Pilot Accused of Stealing Wallet in Sydney, Suspended

Air India has suspended a senior pilot for allegedly stealing a wallet from a duty-free shop at Sydney airport. Rohit Bhasin, the airline’s regional director for East, was rostered as one of the pilots of flight AI301 departing from Sydney. The initial report claims that Mr. Rohit Bhasin was seen shoplifting a wallet from a duty-free shop in Sydney. Air India has instituted an inquiry into this incident and has placed the captain under suspension. An Air India spokesperson said, "Air India lays the highest stress on the proper conduct of its staff and has a zero-tolerance policy towards acts of impropriety."
