Cyclone story 'VAYU' to extend further; may hit Gujarat on June 13

The India Meteorological Office said that a cyclone VAYU is centred about 650 kilometres south of Gujarat. A press release by the IMD read, "The Cyclonic Storm 'VAYU' over the east-central Arabian Sea moved northwards with a speed of about 15 kmph in last six hours and lay centred at 08:30 IST on June 11". The press release further reads, "It's very likely to intensify further into a Severe Cyclonic Storm during next 12 hours. It is very likely to move northwards and cross Gujarat coast between Porbandar and Mahuva around Veraval and Diu region as a Severe Cyclonic Storm with a wind speed of 110-120 kmph during the early morning of June 13".

Mamata Banerjee unveils sculpture of Vidyasagar; denies PM Modi's proposal of making a statue of Vidyasagar

West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee unveiled a sculpture of Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar at the Hare School ground. TMC leaders, ministers, as well as spiritual leaders attended the event. As per the event schedule, the unveiled sculpture will be taken from the Hare School ground to Vidyasagar college where it will be re-installed at the same place where a similar statue was broken during a political clash between BJP and TMC workers on May 14. Banerjee further denied the proposal of PM Modi to build a similar statue of Vidyasagar by saying that her state has enough money to make the structure.

Odisha CM meets PM Modi, discusses over special category status for Odisha

Odisha CM, Naveen Patnaik met PM Narendra Modi and discussed over special category status in the after-effects of Cyclone Fani. Patnaik, in an interview, said, "I congratulate him on his electoral victory, I also requested him for special category status for Odisha as we have been hit by a cyclone recently, which did a great deal of damage". Patnaik further said, "During the meeting, no discussions were held regarding Union budget or Ayushman Bharat". Odisha witnessed a trial of destruction due to the cyclonic storm Fani.

GST council to introduce new GST return system

After the GST Council at its 31st meeting to ease the new return system, a new GST return system will be introduced to encourage taxpayers. An official release said, "Between July to September 2019, the new return system (ANX-1 & ANX-2 only) would be available for trial for taxpayers to make themselves familiar". It further said, "From October 2019 onwards, FORM GST ANX-1 shall be made compulsory and FORM GSTR-1 would be replaced by FORM GST ANX-1". It added, "The large taxpayers would upload their monthly FORM GST ANX-1 from October 2019 onwards. However, the first compulsory quarterly FORM GST ANX-1 to be uploaded by small taxpayers would be due only in January 2020 for the quarter of October to December 2019". The release further stated that FORM GSTR-3B shall be completely phased out by January 2020.
