Jharkhand Professor is arrested for a Facebook Post of 2017

A professor named Jeetrai Hansda, from the Government School and College for Women in the village of Sakchi in Jharkhand’s Jamshedpur district has been arrested for writing a Facebook post for defending his community’s right to eat beef. The lawyer who is handling Mr. Hansda’s case claimed that the arrest was made two years after the complaint was lodged. The possible explanation for this could be the Bharatiya Janata Party did not want to anger Adivasi communities before the General Elections as Mr. Hansda is a prominent figure of his community.
