Citizenship Amendment Bill passed, part of the country protests, while other celebrates

Amid protests going on in different parts of the country against the Citizenship Amendment Bill of 2019, it was passed in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday. With Rajya Sabha’s stamp on the passage of the bill, the celebrations went high in a Pakistani Hindu community residing in the ‘Majnu Ka Tila’ area of Delhi. The Children with the tricolor in their hand chanted ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ and ‘Jai Hind’. A lady named Meera Das who resides in the same locality and came to India eight years back said that now she can live respectfully as a citizen of India as she will have a right to vote. IPS officer Abdur Rahman quits service over Citizenship (Amendment) Bill

Recently an IPS officer Abdur Rahman has decided to take an extreme step and decided to quit his services in an act of "civil disobedience" against the Citizenship (Amendment Bill), 2019. Citizenship Bill is not taking away rights of Muslims, claims Amit Shah

While talking about the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, Home Minister Amit Shah answered the query regarding the Bill. Shah claimed that Citizenship Bill does not discriminate between any communities or targets any religion. He expressed that the Bill is not taking away any rights of Muslims and minorities. He further added that Manipur will be brought under the Inner Line Permit regime. The bill seeks to differentiate between intruders and refugees.
