Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project will affect 54,000 mangroves

On Monday, State Transport Minister Mr. Diwakar Raote has said that the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train project will affect 54000 mangroves spread over 13.36 hectares. To justify these actions Route also informed that "There will be no chopping of trees and there will be no threat of flooding to some parts of Navi Mumbai. The pillars will be high and won't damage the environment much".

Six Indians arrested for smuggling gold in Sri Lanka

Six Indians have been arrested by the Sri Lankan authorities for allegedly attempting to smuggle gold worth ₹30 Lakhs to India: as per a report. The smugglers were detained at the Bandaranaike International Airport in Colombo and had concealed the gold biscuits in their luggage as well as the pockets of their trousers and their rectum. The accused were trying to smuggle the gold to Chennai and have been arrested. They are all in their mid 40's, as reported in primary investigations. Further investigations are being conducted by airport customs.

PM Modi Grants Rs 30 Lakh for Treatment of an Underprivileged Girl for Aplastic Anemia

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has sanctioned a grant of Rs 30 Lakh for the treatment of Lalit, a girl suffering from aplastic anemia. "I want the government to help my daughter in getting the treatment. I have no money. If she cannot be cured, I wish to die," her father claimed in a letter to Narendra Modi. Responding to the plea, PM Modi's office released the money from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund. A bone marrow treatment costing 10 Lakh will be performed in Jaipur for aplastic anemia wherein the body stops producing new blood cells.

7 dead as minibus skids off road in J&K’s Rajouri

At least seven persons were killed and three others injured Sunday when a minibus rolled down into a 200-feet deep gorge in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district. Two persons were found dead on the spot while one succumbed to injuries on the way to the hospital in Kandi. Four others succumbed on the way to the hospital, while two are still battling for life. A case under relevant sections has been registered and further investigations are on. Primary investigations suggest that brake failure is the cause of the incident.
