Godavari boat overterned incident: 9 bodies retrieved, 27 passengers rescued, 24 still missing

The Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA) APO and Tahsildar Devipatnam have stated that nine bodies have been retrieved so far after a boat overturned incident in Godavari River, in which 24 people are still reported missing. The State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) stated that the retrieved bodies have been sent for a post-mortem at the Govt General Hospital Rajahmundry. Recently, 11 people lost their lives after a tourist boat carrying 61 people on board overturned. The ITDA added that 27 people have been rescued out of which 16 people are under treatment in Govt Hospital and the remaining 11 are being brought to the area hospital. Src: https://bit.ly/2kjlXyl

Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad extends gratitude to CJI after seeking permission to travel J&K

Senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad was permitted to travel Jammu & Kashmir by Supreme Court judge Rajan Gogoi. After getting the permission, Nabi said that he was “happy” to see CJI’s concern for Kashmir. “I am thankful to the Supreme Court for permitting me to travel to Jammu & Kashmir. I'll present my report before the Supreme Court. I am happy that no less than CJI has shown his concern and he has held that he should visit J&K and see how things are moving," Azad said. Punjab CM announces ease in Civil Services recruitment to fill 72 vacant posts

Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh has announced unwinding in the recruitment rules for qualified civil services personnel in the state, to boost filling of 72 vacant posts, through changes in various important legislation. As per media reports, the seats were vacant due to non-accessibility of reasonable applicants and now it would help settle the issue related to the allocation of services on the basis of Punjab State Civil Services Combined Examination. The reports further added that the cabinet also authorised the CM to approve the final draft of the rules. An official spokesperson included, “The Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) had forwarded the merit list of applicants to the govt for the allocation of services to 72 posts that had been advertised”.
