"We are seeing EVMs in hotels and homes...strong rooms are being changed" - Chandrababu Naidu

Andhra Pradesh CM and TDP leader Chandrababu Naidu met former PM and JDS supremo HD Deve Gowda over alleged manipulation of the EVMs. In Bengaluru, confabulating with Gowda, Naidu said that 23 parties were raising the issue and demanding transparency and accountability. Naidu further said that earlier, even the BJP had opposed EVMs. In UP, we are seeing EVMs in hotels and homes...strong rooms are being changed, Naidu alleged.

Opposition parties to stake claim if the NDA falls short of the majority mark.

Opposition parties including the Congress are preparing to stake claim to form the next government as soon as May 23in a bid to pre-empt any invitation to the BJP from Rashtrapati Bhavan if the NDA falls short of the majority mark of 272. A senior Congress leader said, "In the possibility of a hung Parliament, we may communicate to president Ram Nath Kovind at the earliest opportunity and if the NDA falls short of a majority, we may replicate the Karnataka model and stake claim. However, the final call will be taken by UPA chief Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi.

Sharad Pawar busy working on the phone lines, to strengthen support for anti-BJP bloc.

An NCP functionary said that NCP leader Sharad Pawar was getting in touch with the BJD, the TRS, and the YSRCP. Pawar spoke to Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik and Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao as the result Pawar got a positive response about a possible tie-up from the Odisha CM if the numbers were in the favour. Rajya Sabha MP Majeed Menon said "Shri Pawar has been in touch with almost all non-NDA political parties over the last few days. He's been doing this even before political schedule started and this is part of the reaching out. We are all now waiting for the results". Menon also said that no details of the calls were shared that were made to the parties.
