Is BJP empowered to turn a state into a Union Territory and diminish the foundation of democracy?

The consequences of Article 370 of the Indian Constitution include the provision of autonomy for J&K but also divides the state to different Union Territories. Disturbingly, the government proposed this massive change without the consent of people, thus ruining the foundation of a democratic country. Further, the people of the state and their leaders have been effectively gagged, since all communication and public assembly have been shut down. This initiative alters the very federal nature of India. It is also important to note, that this downgrading is being effected in India’s only Muslim-majority state. The government has taken a strong Muslim majority state and turned it into two weak Hindu-majority Union Territories Today, the government has demoted Jammu and Kashmir to Union Territory status without informing the people, or even giving a justification for its actions. Tomorrow, it may take away the democratic rights of Kerala or West Bengal, and no one will be able to stop it. Do you believe that the BJP has executed the abolition of Article 370 in the right way?
