UK Court extends Nirav Modi's judicial custody till Oct 17

Fugitive Diamantaire Nirav Modi involved in USD 2 billion Punjab National bank fraud and money laundering case was ordered to remain in Judicial custody until October 17. Nirav Modi appeared before Westminster Court via videolink on Thursday from prison for routine “call over” remand hearing. In the previous hearing, his judicial custody was extended to September 19. His trial is expected for May 11-15, 2020. Nirav is currently serving in Wandsworth prison in South-west London which is one of the most overcrowded jail. Src:https://bit.ly/2moE2vA

Nirav Modi to appear via videolink from prison for remand hearing in UK

Diamond jeweller Nirav Modi, who is on extradition trial in the U.K. for nearly $2 billion Punjab National Bank (PNB) fraud and money laundering case in India, is set to appear before a UK court for his customary 28-day remand hearing on Thursday. Chief Magistrate Emma Arbuthnot had presided over Modi’s last court hearing, which he attended via videolink from the prison. She had earlier set an estimated five-day trial but had said that the period would be decided mutually by both sides soon. Nirav Modi denied bail by UK High Court

Fugitive Diamond Merchant Nirav Modi has been denied bail by UK High Court. Nirav had earlier filed a petition in High Court to review the order of Lower Court which denied him bail. He was arrested on March 20 for scamming Punjab National Bank.
