Increased traffic fines too harsh, won't apply in Bengal: Mamata Banerjee

A day after BJP-led Gujarat state decreased the new Motor Vehicle Bill by 90%, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, termed the new Motor Vehicle Act "too harsh". Banerjee further said, "We had opposed amendments in Parliament. If we implement the Motor Vehicles Act amendments, it will hurt general people". She added that money is not the solution. The problem needs to be looked at from the "humanitarian point of view". Banerjee included that West Bengal already has the "Safe Drive Save Life" campaign, a programme of the TMC aiming at road safety. Src: https://bit.ly/2m6fd7j
