Group of lawyers stopped policemen driving without helmets, gave them a taste of their own medicine

After one of the lawyers was slapped with a fine for not wearing a helmet, the lawyer, along with his colleagues stopped 6 policemen including a sub-inspector in Uttar Pradesh's Bijnor district who were found driving without helmets and took their keys. Satish Kumar, a lawyer, said that according to a recent Uttar Pradesh government directive, only traffic policemen or ARTO can slap a fine for violating traffic rules, policemen are not authorized for the same. No written or oral exams in pre-school, for children aged 3-6 : NCERT

The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has announced that no children should be made to give written or oral exams in pre- school. According to media reports, the council does not want children to have a stage where they are labelled as fail or pass. An official stated that currently in the country, pre-school programmes ranging from those that put children to a dull and monotonous routine to those where children are exposed to structured formal learning, often in English, made to do tests and homework, and denied their right to play. These are the undesirable further and harmful practice that results from misguided parental aspiration. The guidelines have also defined parameters for infrastructure, qualifications and salary for preschool staff, supervision mechanism and importance of coordination and convergence with community and parents and registers to be maintained. Saurav Ganguly appointed as the President of BCCI

Former Indian Captain Sourav Ganguly has been appointed as the President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). As per media reports, the hint of the same was dropped late on Sunday and the news was confirmed officially today. Ganguly, in an interview, cleared that he never had any desire to have a top position in the BCCI. He also revealed that he had no idea about becoming the President until Sunday night.
