India needs poets, writers as much as we need doctors, engineers: Venkaiah Naidu

Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, while addressing the valedictory session of the 39th World Congress of Poets (WCP), stated, "Poetry should promote peace, motivate people to cultivate universal brotherhood, social harmony, and tolerance. Poetry can serve as a powerful catalyst that could hasten the process of social transformation". Naidu further urged schools to make poetry reading and appreciation a compulsory part of the curriculum. He also asked universities to encourage literature, arts, and humanities education. "We need poets and writers and artists and singers as much as we need doctors, engineers, and scientists", Naidu added. Uttar Pradesh: Police seizes 5 tons of mixed beef, buffen, 4 arrested

In Uttar Pradesh's Meerut, the police have allegedly seized 5 tons of mixed beef and buffen and also arrested four people regarding smuggling and transporting it out of the country. A senior police officer stated that after receiving information the police conducted a raid and arrested four people including a so-called journalist. The officer further said that these people used to buy mixed meat from different places and used to transport it to Delhi, where they had two people in export units who used to buy it. He added that the accused used to buy dead animals meat from the municipal corporation and supply it. As per media reports, the police have registered a case against the four and are looking for more people involved in the case. Buffen is an integral part of Awadhi cuisine like Buffen Kababs and Buffen qeema, widely eaten in India. Do you think that the police should take solid action to stop illegal beef export? USAID awards Indian NGO 'Piramal Swasthya' for healthcare accessibility

United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has presented the annual 'Inclusive Health Access Award' to an Indian NGO 'Piramal Swasthya' regarding its efforts to provide comprehensive primary healthcare through community outreach programmes and telemedicine services to the unserved and underserved section of the society. As per media reports, Hyderabad-based 'Piramal Swasthya' is one of the five global healthcare NGOs that have been awarded by USAID for developing solutions to optimise health systems so that people receive the health care they need in ways they trust without having to pay too much or travel too far. Gujarat has maximum consumption of liquor despite ban: Ashok Gehlot

Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot, in an interview, stated, "I was in Gujarat for a year. There is a ban on liquor since independence. But Gujarat has the maximum consumption of liquor. This is the situation of Mahatma Gandhi's Gujarat". Gehlot further said that no ban will give way for illegal liquor. Under these circumstances, it cannot be banned in the state.
