The situation in Gujarat's Khambat under control, says Police

Police inspector general (IG) AK Jadeja (Gujarat), in an interview, said that the police have taken control of the situation in Khambhat town. According to media reports, the town has witnessed violence and arson incidents over the past few days. Jadeja further said that when the demonstrators started to disperse, some miscreants amongst them set properties on fire. Family of Head Constable Ratan Lal demands martyr status be accorded to him

Family members of Delhi Police Head Constable Ratan Lal, who lost his life in North-East Delhi clashes over CAA, have demanded that he be granted martyr status. Yesterday, Home Minister Amit Shah wrote a letter to Ratan Lal's wife saying, "I express grief and deep condolences on the untimely death of your husband". Shah further said he was a courageous and dutiful policeman facing challenges. He has made the sacrifice of his life in the service of the country like a true soldier, Shah added. Heavy security deployed in North-East Delhi

Heavy security personnel has been deployed in the Maujpur, Seelampur and Gokulpuri areas of North-East Delhi in the wake of incidents of violence and arson over the past two days. In the meantime, entrance and exit gates have been opened at all five metro stations in North-East Delhi, which were closed due to violence in the area. 4 more dead in Delhi violence, toll reaches 17

The Guru Tegh Bahadur Hospital has reported that the death toll has reached 17 in the violence that flared up in north-east Delhi. District Magistrate Ajay Kumar Pandey said the boundaries have been sealed by the police, and the district is at peace. Pandey further said all the wine shops in the nearby areas have also been closed by police. Amit Shah had chaired a meeting with Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal, CM Arvind Kejriwal, Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik and other leaders on violence and the prevailing situation in Delhi earlier Tuesday.
