SC to hear Nirbhaya convict Pawan Gupta’s plea on January 20

The Supreme Court will hear the petition of Pawan Kumar Gupta, one of the convicts of the Nirbhaya gang-rape and murder case on January 20. In the petition, Pawan claimed that he was a juvenile when the incident took place. At the same time, the Bar Council of Delhi has issued a notice to Pawan’s lawyer AP Singh. Black balloons were released ahead of Amit Shah’s Hubballi visit as a mark of protest

Delhi Court convicts 2 men in 2013 5-year-old Gudiya gang-rape case

The Delhi Court held two accused men named Manoj Shah and Pradeep in the 2013 Gudiya rape case, guilty. The accused were charged with kidnapping, attempt to murder and brutal rape a 5-year-old girl. The court said in our society minor girls are worshipped as a goddess. The victim has experienced depravity and extreme brutality. In 2013, a 5-year-old girl was gang-raped where the accused put candles and bottles inside her private parts. After that, the victim who is 9-year-old now had to go through six surgeries. Delhi Police can detain for 3 months under NSA act, amid CAA protests: Lt. Governor Anil

Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal of Delhi on Friday passed an order that granted the Commissioner of Police with the power to detain under the draconian National Security Act (NSA) for a period of three months between 19 January and 18 April. Under the Act, an individual can be detained without a charge for up to 12 months. Also, the individual can be put under preventive detention for months if authorities are satisfied that he/she is a threat to national security or law and order.
