Arun Jaitley cremated with full state honours at Nigambodh Ghat, Delhi

Former Union minister Arun Jaitley died at All India Institute of Medical Sciences in Delhi yesterday. He was cremated at Delhi's Nigambodh Ghat today. Former Delhi Lt Guv Najeeb Jung, former minister Prakash Javdekar, Union minister Smriti Irani are among the many who have arrived at the Nigambodh Ghat. BJP leaders Gautam Gambhir, BS Yediyurappa, Nirmala Sitharaman, Rajnath Singh, Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu along with opposition leaders Sharad Pawar and others have also arrived at the Nigambodh Ghat to pay their respect. Due to the Flood in Kerala, lost documents should be recreated at a nodal office suggested, Rahul Gandhi

The congress former leader, Rahul Gandhi has written to Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan in order to set up a single-window system for reissuance of documents lost or damaged during the recent devastating floods in the state. Rahul Gandhi while mentioning the issue written in the letter said that many flood-affected families in his constituency lost essential documents like ration cards, Aadhaar cards, school or college certificates, land titles, registered documents, birth certificates, death certificates, tax receipts, pan cards. Threat of cross border terrorism continues to exist, security forces maintain high alert in J&K

Rohit Kansal, principal secretary of the J-K government said that the Security forces are on high alert along the Line of Control (LoC) and International Border (IB) in Jammu and Kashmir as the threat of cross-border terrorism continues to exist. He added that "It has been observed that from August 17 onwards there has been a steady decline in incidents, while three incidents were reported on August 21 and two were reported on August 22". 5 Maoists killed, two jawans injured in an encounter in Chhattisgarh

Five suspected Maoists were killed in an encounter with security forces in the Narayanpur district of Chhattisgarh on Saturday. The exchange of fire took place around 6 am in the forest near Dhurbeda village. The gunfight continued for around one-and-a-half hour, following which the Maoists disappeared inside the dense forests. It occurred when a District Reserve Guard(DRG) team was out on a counter-insurgency operation. Two personnel of the DRG also sustained bullet injuries in the encounter.
