Govt approves acquisition of 24 US-made MH-60 choppers for Navy

Ahead of US President Donald Trump's visit to India, the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) gave its nod to the acquisition of 24 US-made MH-60 Romeo multi-role helicopters worth around USD 2.5 billion for the Indian Navy. MH-60 Romeo choppers are designed to hunt submarines as well as knock out ships and perform search and rescue operations at sea and will replace India's ageing fleet of helicopters made by the British Sea King. Coronavirus outbreak impacts Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur traders

Businessmen in Kanpur district of Uttar Pradesh claimed that the prices of electronic and mobile accessories products have increased due to the Coronavirus outbreak in China. Gyanesh Mishra, a representative of Sagar Market, said that no one is visiting China as it has shut down all the factories due to which the effect is felt here as well. INR 183 lakh sanctioned for medical assistance in J&K

Lieutenant Governor Girish Chandra Murmu of Jammu and Kashmir has approved INR 183.59 lakh as medical assistance for patients with chronic diseases and victims of road accidents and natural incidents. The 183.59 lakh medical assistance was sanctioned under the Cancer Treatment Management Fund For Poor (CTMFFP). He further sanctioned INR 22.63 lakh for people under the J&K Medical Aid Trust Scheme and allocated INR 37.58 lakh to the J&K Relief Fund. Src: https://bit.ly/2vKl7QD

Fifteen thousand Muslims marched to protest Citizenship Law in Chennai

Thousands of Muslims had recently marched for a short distance in Chennai today despite the police declining permission to them to hold a protest against the centre's policies on citizenship. As per the media reports, as many as 15000 people had participated to show their protest against Citizenship Law. The Madras High Court had told the protesters not to march to the Tamil Nadu assembly. The protesters said they were on a peaceful protest and wouldn't go towards the assembly building.
