"Days of lantern are over in Bihar" - PM Modi attacks the opposition RJD

PM Narendra Modi on Thursday launched a veiled attack on the opposition RJD in Bihar remarking that with electricity having reached all corners of the state, the days of lantern poll symbol of Lalu Prasad party were over. Digging on the IRCTC scam which pertains to the period while Lalu Prasad was the Railway Minister, Modi said "These lalten wallahs too could have brought electricity to the homes of the people while they were in power. But they were busy lighting up their own clan. Somebody was building a farmhouse, somebody was constructing a mall, somebody making money through railway tenders."

"Pragya's remark on Hemant Karkare evokes strong reactions" - BJP gives clear view on the same

The BJP on Friday itself from the remark on Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur who claimed that 26/11 martyr Hemant Karkare died because she cursed him for "torturing" her. While the IPS association condemned Sadhvi Pragya's statement, the Congress demanded an apology from PM Narendra Modi. The BJP statement said "The BJP is of the clear view that late Hemant Karkare died bravely fighting the terrorists. The BJP has always considered him a martyr. The statement of Sadhvi Pragya is this context is her personal opinion, possibly due to the years of physical and mental torture that she faced".

"Whenever it is announced I am ready" - Rajinikanth to contest state polls if AIADMK falls short of majority in Tamil Nadu

Tamil superstar and aspiring politician Rajinikanth on Friday said he is ready to contest assembly elections in Tamil Nadu "wherever" the state goes to the polls. And further said "Whenever it is announced I am ready. I will decide after May 23". Rajinikanth had previously said that he would file candidate in all 234 assembly constituencies in 2021 Tamil Nadu. In December 2017, Rajinikanth had announced entering politics with his own political outfit.
