Agencies supplying drinking water must ensure quality: Consumer Affairs Ministry

The Consumer Affairs Ministry has stated that India's govt is aiming at providing piped water to every household by 2024. The Ministry also stated that water supply agencies for town, city and village households spread throughout the country should ensure that the water supplied is safe for drinking purposes. Consumer Affairs Secretary Avinash K Srivastava stated that the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has published an Indian Standard Specification for drinking water- IS 10500:2012, which sets out drinking water requirements and tests. Jammu and Kashmir: Police arrest terrorist intimidating locals in Awantipora

In Jammu and Kashmir's Awantipora district, the Kashmir Zone Police arrested a terrorist associate involved in threatening and intimidating locals. The accused has been identified as Asif Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Larow Jageer area in Tral. Maharashtra: Iranian couple arrested for cheating in Pune

In Maharashtra's Pune city, the police have arrested an Iranian couple for allegedly cheating a medical shop owner amounting to INR 24,500. The accused couple has been identified as Mohamad Shamshabad Abilfazal and his wife Reshma Ahmadi Firoz, residents of Iran's Tehran city. As per media reports, the couple was arrested from their hotel based on CCTV footage of an incident. Odisha govt signs MoUs to improve urban service delivery system
