Temple to be built on disputed Ayodhya land, Muslims to get alternate land: SC

Pronouncing the verdict in the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid title suit, the Supreme Court ordered that the disputed land will be given to Hindus for the construction of the temple and a suitable alternative plot of land measuring 5 acres at Ayodhya will be given to Sunni Waqf Board. CJI Ranjan Gogoi, while delivering the Ayodhya verdict underlined that law must stand apart over political considerations, religion, and beliefs. SC dismisses 'SLP' by Shia Waqf Board challenging 1946 Faizabad Court order

The Supreme Court dismissed the Single Leave Petition (SLP) filed by the Shia Waqf Board challenging the judgment of the Faizabad Court in 1946. Chief Justice of India (CJI) Ranjan Gogoi, while reading the verdict in the land of Ayodhya, claimed that the Babri Mosque was built by Mir Baqi and that it was not necessary for the Court to get into the area of theology. A five-judge bench of the Supreme Court is pronouncing its verdict on a batch of a petition against the 2010 Allahabad High Court order in the Ram Mandir-Babri Masjid land dispute case. Ayodhya verdict: Schools, colleges shut in UP, MP, K'taka, J&K, Delhi; Section 144 imposed

Ahead of the Supreme Court's decision in Ram Mandir-Babri Masjid land dispute today, schools, colleges, and other educational institutes will remain closed in Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Karnataka, and Delhi. Section 144 of CrPC, which prohibits the gathering of more than four people, has been imposed in entire Goa, Uttar Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Madhya Pradesh capital Bhopal, and Bengaluru. The Jammu and Kashmir's administration has also postponed examination and declared a dry day today.
