Rahul Gandhi hits out at Modi for not visiting or providing suitable compensation to flood-hit Kerala

Rahul Gandhi on Friday hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not visiting Kerala that was affected by floods recently. The former Congress president also termed it "unfair" that Kerala is waiting for a relief package similar to those given to other flood-hit states. Rahul Gandhi was replying to a tweet by PM Modi in which he recalled his last visit to the coastal state in June, to the famous Guruvayur temple, soon after he was re-elected for a second term. "After your visit to Guruvayur - a huge flood visited Kerala, causing death & destruction. A timely visit then would have been appreciated," Gandhi tweeted. Src:https://bit.ly/2Ukq5vn

Subramanian Swamy on declining economy: Get ready to say goodbye to Rs 5 trillion economy

BJP leader Subramanian Swamy on Saturday said India may not reach its target of becoming a Rs 5 trillion dollar economy if no new economic policy is implemented soon. This comes immediately after GDP growth dropped to 5 percent for the first quarter of the financial year 2019-20, the lowest in the past six years. Swamy tweeted, "Get ready to say goodbye to Rs 5 trillion if no new economic policy is forthcoming. Neither boldness alone or knowledge alone can save the economy from a crash. It needs both. Today we have neither." Over the past few months, core industries have witnessed a gradual slowdown in growth due to weak consumer demand and lack of investments. Src:https://bit.ly/2Zq1nzK

Madras HC asks relatives of late CM Jayalalithaa: Why shouldn't her assets be allotted for public welfare?

The Madras High Court on Friday asked late Chief Minister Jayalalithaa’s niece and nephew — Deepa and Deepak — why a part of her properties and assets should not be allotted for public welfare, as she had often claimed that she was made by the people and worked for the welfare of people. A Division Bench was hearing a case moved by an AIADMK worker who wished to be appointed as the official administrator for the late CM’s properties. Deepa and Deepak said they had no objection over it and they were planning to establish a trust fund in Jayalalithaa’s name. Src: https://bit.ly/2ZCiMjX
