Center asks to clear overdue payments of PSUs by October 15 to boost economic growth

The government on Saturday set October 15 as the deadline for central Public Sector undertakings (PSUs) to clear overdue payments to vendors and contractors as it looks to lift economic growth from six-year low by boosting expenditure. According to media, Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman said,” PSUs have been asked to detail lifespan of arbitrations that lock payments after disputes with vendors and contractor and firms have also been asked to submit spending plans for the next four quarters”. Talks with BJP progressing well and final decision would be announced: Uddhav Thackeray on seat sharing with BJP

Ahead of Maharashtra Assembly election Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray said that the seat-sharing talks are progressing well with BJP and a final decision would be announced soon. Uddhav said that he would fulfill the promise made to his father Bal Thackeray of making Shiv Sainik the chief minister of Maharashtra.“If the alliance materializes, Shiv Sena wouldn’t backstab as we openly oppose”, he added. Jammu and Kashmir: Gun Battle broke out between militant and security forces; one civilian taken as a hostage

In Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday, at least two encounters between terrorists and Indian Army personnel, and one grenade attack were reported. According to the reports, the first encounter which is still going on broke out in Batote after a group of terrorists tried to stop a bus in a Batote region and another encounter took place in Ganderbal where one terrorist was killed by the security forces. In another incident, a grenade was hurled at CRPF troops in Srinagar's Safakadal area and no injury or loss of life was reported. As per media reports, there are at least five terrorists involved in the Batote encounter and they have taken one civilian as a hostage. Whereas at least one terrorist was killed by security forces in Ganderbal and a large cache of weapons was recovered from the terrorists' hideout. A joint operation is in progress in the area.
