Paytm gives 2.6 million shares to investors in return of Dollar 660 millions of funds

According to a report by business intelligence platform Tofler, the Indian digital payments platform Paytm’s parent company One97 Communications has raised an amount of around Dollar 660 million from investors including the Alibaba Group, SoftBank’s SVF Panther (Cayman) and the funds are being managed by T Rowe. Paytm plans to remove 500 mid and junior employees

The e-commerce payment company Paytm is laying off 500 employees who worked at the mid and junior level. As per the source, the company is asking many state heads including junior managers to resign abruptly to cut down the expense and the firm is offering them two-months severance package. The states in which the maximum layoffs will take place are Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and others. Over a dozen of employees have already resigned from the company. Paytm raises $ 1 billion in a fresh funding

Paytm said it has raised fresh funds from a group of investors, including existing backers such as SoftBank’s Vision Fund and Alibaba’s Ant Financial today. The company has not officially disclosed details of the funding, but according to sources the Indian company raised $1 billion in the latest round. Paytm is planning to enter into healthcare payments segment

Digital payment platform Paytm is now all set to enter into the healthcare space to widen its user base. Paytm wants to create a separate category of payments for the doctors as that’s something that most digital payments platforms don’t yet offer. The platform will allow patients to make payments for doctor consultations and will also help connect patients to doctors.
