Mamata Banerjee: Manner of Chidambaram's Arrest 'Very Depressing'

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday said the arrest of senior Congress leader and former Union minister P Chidambaram by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) was a depressing and sad. Mamata Banerjee told reporters, "Sometimes the process is incorrect. I am not talking about the legality. He is a senior politician, ex-finance and home minister of the country. The way his matter is being handled is very depressing and sad". Telangana: Police and forest guards attacked by TRS workers for Terrorizing Farmers

A team of police and forest guards was allegedly attacked by ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) workers in Sirpur Kagaznagar block of Asifabad district during a tree plantation drive, which was allegedly encroached upon by TRS. A woman forest ranger has suffered injuries during the attack. She has accused local TRS MLA Koneru Konappa’s brother of the attack. The accused, Krishna, himself is the chairperson of Zila Parishad. "Forest department is terrorizing the adivasi farmers and confiscating their land.
