Budget 2020: FM Sitharaman hails GST as a success, says 60 lakh more tax payers added

While presenting the Union Budget 2020 in Parliament today, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman hailed GST as the most historic structural reform carried out till date and further added that 60 lakh more taxpayers had been added and consumers have got an annual benefit of INR 1 lakh crore through GST. Sitharaman also said that GST has been gradually maturing into a tax that has integrated the country economically and provided a platform for Centre and states to cooperate. Man in West Bengal found living with wife’s dead body for three days

A man identified as Bacchhu in West Bengal’s Nadia district was found living with the dead body of her wife for three days. The incident came to light when a neighbor questioned the man about her wife who was suffering from liver ailments. Nirbhaya rape case convict Vinay Sharma’s mercy rejected by President Kovind

President Ram Nath Kovind on Saturday has rejected the mercy petition of Vinay Sharma, who is one of the convicts in the NIrbhaya rape case, 2012. Vinay had filed his mercy petition urging him to listen to his side of the story when nobody did. Vinay’s lawyer A P Singh said that the convict has started to feel that he has already died several times in prison. The court had said that according to Delhi Prison Rules, 2018 if an appeal and application is made by one convict then the execution sentence of all co-convicts will be postponed as well.
