Haryana Congress spokesperson shot dead in Faridabad

Haryana Congress spokesperson Vikas Chaudhary was shot dead by unidentified men in Faridabad on Wednesday. More than 10 bullets were pumped into him, the hospital authorities said. The body has been sent for post-mortem. According to the police, Chaudhary was going to the gym at around 9 am where it seems that the assailants were following him in a car. They opened fire and fled the spot. It is thought to be a matter of personal enmity. The entire incident has been captured by CCTV cameras. The matter is being investigated. Maharaja Ranjit Singh statue to be unveiled in Pakistan today

The first-of-its-kind statue has been unveiled by Lahore Government in an open space outside the Mai Jindian Haveli in Lahore Fort, Pakistan. It is in line with the government’s focus on Sikh religious tourism. A life-size statue of Maharaja Ranjit Singh, who ruled over Punjab for close to 40 years will be inaugurated on account of his 180th death anniversary. Books displayed on the website are on Sikh history, religion and scriptures, and mostly in Gurmukhi. The website also displays a book on Indian war hero Lt Gen Harbaksh Singh. Staffer son undergoes sex change, Railways In Fix Over family pension

The railways have referred to the central government a letter from a 32-year-old, who underwent a sex-change operation years ago to become a woman, demanding the family pension of her father, a retired employee who died in 2017. According to pension laws, sons over 25 years are not eligible for family pension. But there is no such bar on a dependent daughter. Officials said the woman lives with her partner, who is a transgender and has been pursuing the case for a year. In spite of all this, the law is either silent or unclear.
