Covid-19 cases in India touches 5000, 165 deaths so far

Coronavirus cases in India rose to 5,325 on Tuesday, the digits have doubled in the past five days, even the death toll from the virus went over 150 to end the day at 165, according to reports. Blood Transfusion from Coronavirus patients who recovered may boost treatment: Reports

A blood transfusion from people who have recovered from the coronavirus disease Covid-19 can help cure others, according to a research published that describes the technique – convalescent plasma therapy. This type of treatment is said to be most effective. An experiment was conducted on group of 10 severely ill Covid-19 patients in China who began to show significant improvements after a single dose, the American journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS) reported on Tuesday. “All symptoms in the 10 patients, especially fever, cough, shortness of breath, and chest pain, disappeared or largely improved within 1 day to 3 days upon CP transfusion,” said the report. Amid COVID-19 lockdown, India's jobless rate rises to 23% in 1st week of April: Survey

As per the survey by Mumbai-based Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE), early estimates of job data and labour participation revealed that India's unemployment rate in first week of April rose to over 23%. The unemployment rate in March was 8.7%, the highest since September 2016, CMIE added. This comes as India entered the fourteenth day of the nationwide lockdown. Further, CMIE also pointed out that the labour participation rate in March this year was 41.9 percent, as compared to 42.6 percent in February, suggesting the fall happened even before the lockdown. While giving an interview, Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh says dealing with COVID-19 was like fighting a war wherein an unknown enemy and it makes the battle more complicated and challenging every day. He further said that a large number of non-resident Indian (NRI) population in the state makes it more vulnerable to the deadly disease.
