For the development of Russia's Far East region, PM Modi extends $1 billion line of credit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today announced a historical decision of giving a line of credit worth $1 Billion for the development of the Far East region in Russia. This is the first time that India is giving a line of credit for a particular region of a country. Addressing the 5th Eastern Economic Forum PM Modi said that the friendship between India and Russia was not restricted to governmental interactions in capital cities but is about people and close business relations. Centre approves Akash Missile system at Rs 5500 crore

The Union Cabinet has approved procurement of Akash Missile and 83 light combat aircraft(LCA) for Rs 5500 crore. This will give a major boost to India’s defence sector. The move is significant as it comes when the government is emphasising on Make in India initiative and lays emphasis on procuring Indian defence equipment. Developed by DRDO, Akash has been produced by Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL), while LCA is a Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL)-developed flagship platform. Mumbai Pours: Two on-duty BMC staffers die after falling into rainwater

On Wednesday evening, two on-duty BMC staffers identified as Vijayendra Sardar Bagdi (36) and Jagdish Parmar (54) have lost their lives after falling into rainwater during torrential downpour at Goregaon. Supreme Court orders shifting of detained CPI (M) leader Mohammad Yusuf Tarigami to AIIMS

The Supreme Court has today ordered the shifting of detained Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader Mohammad Yusuf Tarigami to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) at Delhi for better treatment. CPI(M) leader Sitaram Yechury told the court that he had no objection if Tarigami was brought to Delhi for better treatment. The Supreme Court order comes after Mr Yechury filed an affidavit on the medical condition of Tarigami, in which he claimed that security restrictions had affected his mental and physical health.
