Mumbai lands 45th, Delhi 52nd rank on the Safe Cities Index 2019

Across the world, Mumbai has occupied the 45th position and Delhi gained 52nd position in the Economist Intelligence Unit's Safe Cities Index 2019. The cities were ranked under parameters like digital security, health security, infrastructure security, and personal security. On the personal safety index, Delhi took the 41st position while Mumbai took the 37th. Similarly, on the infrastructure security index, Delhi occupied 57th position. India-UK project to find cheaper diagnostic tools for early cancer detection

The Govt's Department of Biotechnology has collaborated with British charity, Cancer Research UK, to introduce a research challenge for affordable approaches to cancer. According to the media reports, the initiative will fund research projects of worth 10 million pounds over the next five years and it will be managed by DBT/Wellcome Trust India Alliance. It further said that the objective is to stimulate focused, multidisciplinary research to address important challenges in affordability in cancer prevention, diagnosis, and treatment, by bringing together research strengths of India and the UK. The initiative is being implemented in three stages. In the primary stage, core challenges have been identified. IAF plans to buy 33 MiG-29, Sukhoi 30 fighter jets

The Indian Air Force (IAF) is pushing a proposal for buying 33 new combat aircraft including 21 MiG-29s and 12 Sukhoi 30s. As per the govt sources, the proposal by IAF is probably going to be taken before a high-level meeting of the Defence Ministry in the next few weeks. The 12 Su-30 MKIs are being planned to be enlisted for replacing the number of aircraft lost by Air Force in different accidents and the 12 additional Sukhoi will help the Indian Air Force to maintain its fleet of 272 Su-30 MKI fighters. The sources stated, "As per plans, the MiG-29s on offer would be of the latest upgraded MiG-29s which are already in service with the IAF. It's time for Pak to start behaving like a normal neighbour: India's clear and stern message

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Raveesh Kumar, at a press conference, condemned the irresponsible statements being made by the Pakistani leadership after Kashmir's special status was removed by the Central govt. Kumar expressed, "We condemn the highly irresponsible statements coming from Pakistan. These statements are interference in our internal matter". He added, "It is important for Pakistan to now start behaving like a normal neighbour. What do normal neighbour do? You don’t push terrorists into a neighbouring country.
