2 lakh migrants from 16 states housed in 711 camps in West Bengal: Mamata Banerjee

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday said on Twitter that over 2 lakh migrant labourers and stranded people from 16 Indian states were being housed in 711 camps across the state. In her tweet, Mamata said that they are being directly taken care of by the state government along with the help of a few NGOs. COVID-19 does not discriminate on basis of caste, religion: WB CM Mamata Banerjee

While speaking to reporters in Kolkata, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that COVID-19 does not discriminate on the basis of caste or religion. She said,"We have been witnessing that some people are indulging in communal politics over Nizamuddin event. This is completely unacceptable.” She further asked, "Why the gathering was not stopped when it was happening? We take pride to have paid full salaries to employees unlike other states

West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee revealed that the state has gone into losses worth thousands of crores of rupees due to the lockdown. But the govt takes the pride to have disbursed an amount of INR 35,10,200 for salaries and pension of employees. Attacking Telangana and other, she said that there are many states that do not need to repay a debt of Rs 50,000 crore like Bengal, yet their treasuries are empty and have announced pay cuts of employees in their states.
