Prepare, but don't panic is India's mantra on COVID-19: PM Modi at SAARC meet

PM Modi, during a video conference with SAARC leaders and representatives, said India has registered less than 150 COVID-19 cases, but every citizen should remain vigilant. Modi further said the step-by-step approach helped prevent panic, allowing specific efforts to target vulnerable groups. He added that from mid-January the govt had started screening citizens entering India itself, while slowly increasing travel restrictions. Modi also proposed the formation of a COVID-19 emergency fund for the SAARC leaders, that can be focused on voluntary contributions from all SAARC countries. Src: https://bit.ly/39Y7gVW

Family members of the four death row convicts in the Nirbhaya gang-rape and murder have written a letter requesting permission for euthanasia from President Ram Nath Kovind. Older parents, siblings and accused children are among those seeking euthanasia. In the letter, the convict families requested President Kovind and the victim's parents to support their plea and give them permission for euthanasia and avoid any possible crime so that another incident like Nirbhaya doesn't happen and the court doesn't have to hang up five people instead of one.
