India to restore degraded land for rehabilitation by 2030

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “India would raise its ambition of the total area that would be restored from its land degradation status, from 21 million hectares to 26 million hectares between now and 2030”. It was in January when India became part of the “Bonn Challenge”, a global effort to bring 150 million hectares of the world’s deforested and degraded land into restoration. Focusing on the aim; Union Environment minister Prakash Javadekar, during a prelude to the UN summit, said that India would restore “5 million hectares” between 2021 and 2030. Congress leader Shashi Tharoor today said that the Opposition parties in India stand united with PM Modi for taking the matter to the United Nations. "Pakistan has no locus standi as far as India's internal matters are concerned. We are in Opposition, we can criticise the government in the country over Kashmir. But outside India, we are one. Jharkhand: Student at government school studies under umbrellas as roof leaks

Recently an incident has come in lights where students of Murethakura village’s government school are forced to study under umbrellas. The reason behind this is said to be leaking of the roof. Rati Kant Pradhan, the teacher of the school said, "We turn off the electricity to avoid unfortunate incidents. I request the government to look into the matter and solve it." The teacher has further claimed that "We have to face a lot of trouble for due to rain which often our spoils our books."
