Karnataka: BS Yediyurappa appoints 3 deputy-CMs Week After Swearing-in

Karnataka chief minister BS Yediyurappa appointed three deputy chief ministers on Monday as he allocated portfolios to the new lawmakers in his cabinet. Govind Makthappa, Ashwath Narayan and Laxman Sangappa Savadi will serve as the deputy chief ministers, according to a notice. While Makthappa has been allotted Public Works Department, Narayan and Savadi have been given higher education and transport, respectively. A man set himself on fire at Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar’s Jan Aashirwad rally in Sonipat Monday afternoon. Rajesh Kumar poured set himself on fire at the rally. Rajesh claimed he met Khattar in New Delhi and told him of his children’s unemployment. The CM had assured him his children would be recruited in Group-D posts. Andhra Pradesh: ASHA workers hold massive protests in Vijayawada, demanding fulfillment of poll promise

Andhra Pradesh state health workers held a huge protest in Vijayawada on Monday demanding the ruling government to fulfill their poll promise to hike the salaries to 10,000 from earlier 3,000 per month. Thousands of Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA) workers and Community Health Workers arrived from all the 13 districts of Andhra Pradesh and held a massive demonstration at Lenin Centre. They also demanded honorarium which is paid over and above the salary which is pending for over four months.
