Telangana: Woman granted one-year imprisonment for thrashing child

In Telangana's Hyderabad city, a Metropolitan Magistrate Court has sentenced a woman to one-year imprisonment for thrashing her one-year-old child in 2016. As per media reports, the court has convicted Child's mother (Jaya), maternal grandfather (K Ajay), and grand-mother (K Lakxmi) in the case. The reports further said that mother Jaya has been convicted to undergo one-year imprisonment and the other two have been awarded a sentence of three months. Jaya has also been asked to pay a fine of Rs 1,150. The case pertains to December 1, 2016, when a Child Protection Officer had lodged a complaint stating that accused Jaya created nuisance at a road by hitting her one-year child in a drunken condition and causing a severe head injury. Uttar Pradesh: Police arrests 2 brothers, recovers heroin worth Rs 2 Cr

In Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad district, two brothers identified as Nitin and Sachin have been arrested from Vijay Nagar area and 1.3 kg heroin worth Rs 2 Cr have recovered from their possession. The police stated that these two brothers have also been arrested in the past for similar cases. The father of the accused was also involved in similar incidents and had been arrested on multiple occasions. Rajkot: Plastic Manufacturers Association protest against proposed ban on single-use plastic

Rajkot Plastic Manufacturers Association (PMA) conducted a silent rally to protest the proposed blanket ban on single-use plastic by the city Municipal Corporation (MC). An officer-bearer of the association, Paresh Ganatra, stated, "Banning plastic is not the solution. Whatever will be used as a replacement of single-use plastic will also be harmful to the environment in some other way. The govt should, therefore, find means on how to recycle plastic and so it is not our protest rally but more or less awareness about the truth".
