13,000 boys lifted in J&K lockdown: Fact-finding team of 5 women

A five-member fact-finding women team of activists of National Federation of Indian Women (NFIW), Pragatisheel Mahila Sangathan Delhi (PMSD), and Muslim's Forum, which visited several villages in four districts of Jammu and Kashmir between September 17 and 21, has demanded a time-bound inquiry into the excess committed by the Indian Army since the revocation of special status of the state. The team also demanded the restoration of Article 370 and Article 35A. NFIW member Annie Raja, stated, "The role of Army cannot be ignored. It cannot remain a holy cow. Young boys are picked up from their home at night. Families don't know where many of them are lodged". Syeda Hameed, who was also a part of the delegation that included Annie Raja, Kawaljit Kaur, Pankhuri Zaheer (NFIW), and Poonam Kaushik (PMSD), said that 13,000 youths are estimated to be behind bars since August 5 when the govt scrapped special status of Jammu and Kashmir. Hollywood Actor Leonardo DiCaprio came out in support of “Cauvery Calling” Movement which was initiated by the Isha Foundation in Coimbatore to revive the Cauvery river.The Titanic star wrote on his Facebook page,"India's rivers are severely endangered with many of its smaller rivers vanishing. Join Sadhguru and the Isha Foundation in their fight to preserve the Cauvery river”. Depositors panic as RBI lays withdrawal limit of Rs 1,000 on Punjab Maharashtra Co-Operative Bank

The Reserve Bank of India has imposed withdrawal limitation of Rs.1000 for account holders in Punjab-Maharashtra Co-Operative bank. The restriction will likely to remain for six months."The depositors will be allowed to withdraw a sum not exceeding Rs.1,000 of the total balance in every savings bank account or current account or any other deposit account by whatever name called, subject to conditions stipulated in the RBI Directions," the RBI said in a press release". The Central bank’s move to put withdrawal limit for account holders has led to protest by depositors outside the bank’s main branch in Mumbai-Bhandup area. Src:https://bit.ly/2mN1l29
