68 college girls in Bhuj asked to remove underwear to prove they weren’t on periods

A shocking incident took place in Gujarat’s Bhuj in which 68 college girls from Shree Sahajanand Girls Institute (SSGI) were forced to remove their underwear. One of the students said that they were forced to remove to prove that they were not menstruating. The incident took place when the hostel warden complained to the principal that some of them were violating religious norms during their menstruation. According to the rules of the sect, menstruating women are not allowed to enter the temple and kitchen premises. Hostel inmates of the college are not even allowed to mix with each other. Singapore govt to pay bills of Coronavirus patients admitted in public hospitals

The Singapore Ministry of Health has said govt will pay the hospital bills incurred by patients infected with Coronavirus. As reported by the media, this coverage does not refer to outpatient care in hospitals or polyclinics with general practitioners, nor does it apply to services received in private medical facilities. SC to pronounce verdict on steps to address the problem of criminalisation of politics

Today the Supreme Court will deliver its decision on steps to be taken to address the issue of politics criminalisation. The court is expected to decide in its judgment whether it can give directives to political parties to refuse tickets to candidates with a criminal background. A Bench of Justices Rohinton Nariman and S Ravindra Bhat will pronounce the judgment in petitions of contempt which, among other items, pointed out that despite repeated directions from the top court, the Govt and the Election Commission have failed to take measures to decriminalise politics. Mayawati loses electricity in her house after failing to pay INR 67,000 bill

Due to the non-payment of duties, the electricity at BSP President Mayawati's house in Badalpur region of Greater Noida was disconnected. According to media reports, the INR 67,000 bill was not paid and spokesperson for the power department confirmed that the disconnection was done in a routine exercise. The power-supply was reconnected after a total of INR 50,000 was deposited by the family members of Mayawati.
