Jharkhand Elections: Polling to start on 30th November as announced by Election Commission

The Election Commission has announced the polling dates for upcoming assembly elections in Jharkhand. The polling will take place in 5 phases starting from November 30 and the following phases will occur on 7th, 12th, 16th and 20th of December. The ongoing term of ongoing assembly is going to end on January 5. The assembly is comprised of 81 members. Currently, the state is being governed by BJP led by Raghubar Das as a Chief Minister. Differently-abled & senior citizens over 80 years can now vote via postal ballot

On the suggestion of Election Commission of India, the Central government amended the Conduct of Election rules, 1961 which will allow differently-abled and senior citizens over 80 years to remain absent from voters list and cast their vote through postal ballot. Haryana Assembly elections: Liquor worth Rs 10 Cr seised

In Haryana's Chandigarh, the Election Commission (EC) has acknowledged that 4,01,438 liters of liquor worth Rs 10,98,37,626 has been seized by the police and Excise Department after the implementation of Model Code of Conduct (MCC) for General Assembly elections on October 21. An EC Officer stated that more than 40,000 Haryana police personnel, over 13,000 Paramilitary personnel and more than 20,000 Home Guards and Special police officers have been deployed for conducting the elections. As per media reports, the Assembly election will witness a multi-cornered contest on several seats between BJP, Congress, Indian National Lok Dal (INLD), and Jannayak Janta Party (JJP). ECI extends the last date to verify voter card detail

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced that it has extended the last date for online verification of voter ID cards till November 18, 2019. In Delhi, the last date to verify is October 31 as the election will be held in the first quarter of 2020. ECI, in a statement, said that it has observed the progress of the Electors Verification Programme (EVP) is considerably slow and verification of a large number of electors is yet to be done.
