Nirbhaya convict Vinay Sharma wants to send personal diary to President with mercy plea

Amid hanging of Nirbhaya gang-rape and the murder case accused, one of the accused Vinay Sharma desired to send his 170-pages personal diary to President Ram Nath Kovind. He sent application to the court that he wanted to attach his personal diary with his mercy petitions. One of the convicts in the case, Mukesh Singh's petition has already been rejected by President Kovind. Four accused will be hanged on 1st February. Src: https://bit.ly/2tEnu6S

NGO worker's house set on fire over rumour of collecting NRC data in West Bengal

An angry mob on Wednesday allegedly set the house of a woman on fire in West Bengal’s Birbhum district. The woman used to work for an NGO. The unidentified locals suspected that the woman was collecting data for the National Register of Citizens. According to reports, the 20-year-old woman used to go door-to-door in the locality to discuss the benefits of the internet. But the locals assumed that she was collecting data related to NRC. MP makes reading Preamble of Constitution mandatory in schools

Madhya Pradesh govt has made the reading of Preamble of the Constitution mandatory in schools on every Saturday. The Department of School Education stated that orders in this regard have been issued to District Education Officers. The statement issued by School Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad read that from January 26, a programme called Sovereignty of Constitution, the public interest of all will be started wherein every school Preamble of the Constitution will be read by all in a group before the classes begin.
