Vodafone Idea Limited to increase mobile service rates from Dec 1

Vodafone Idea Limited (VIL) announced that it will raise tariffs for mobile services from December 1, 2019. In a statement, the VIL stated, to ensure that its consumers continue to enjoy world-class digital experiences, it was necessary to increase the rates. The telecom operator, however, did not reveal the specifics of the planned increase in the tariff. The announcement comes in the wake of the company reporting a combined quarterly loss over INR 50,922 Cr, India's highest reported net loss company and the Supreme Court's adverse ruling on adjusted gross revenue. Don't turn Lok Sabha into West Bengal Assembly: Om Birla to BJP, TMC MPs

Recently, during the discussion of a bill to amend the Chit Funds Act, the Lok Sabha witnessed an altercation between BJP and TMC members. The altercation erupted after allegations were made against TMC by BJP leader Locket Chatterjee in relation to the Saradha chit fund case. TMC member also slammed the Center in the case of the chit fund over the probe and dismissed the charges of Chatterjee. JNU protest: Around 100 students detained; Delhi police refutes lathi-charge allegations

Thousands of JNU students started their protest march to the Parliament yesterday, demanding full fee rollback along with other demands. As the police tried to stop them, some agitated groups attempted to forcibly break the barricades. After this, 100 students were arrested for displaying violent resistance to police orders. The police officials claimed that the Delhi police personnel continued to act with caution, and despite continued resistance by some student groups, methods of mediation were restored, and there was no use of water cannons, tear gas shells or lathi-charge. Revenue of Sabarimala temple crosses INR 3 Cr in first two days of opening

In the first two days of the Mandalam season this year, Sabarimala temple revenue exceeded INR 3.32 Cr, while the amount was INR 2.42 Cr. The temple receives INR 1 Cr as donation and offerings in two days that is INR 25 lakhs more from 2017. The temple's opening comes days after the Supreme Court's five-judge bench had referred a bunch of petitions seeking revocation of its order that paved the way for women to enter the Sabarimala temple in Kerala by a majority 3:2 decision to a larger seven-judge bench.
