Punjab Govt announces to extend lockdown till May 1st in state

Amid Coronavirus lockdown, Punjab Government has announced to extend the 21-days lockdown in the state till May 1st. The government said, "The decision was taken at a meeting of the council of ministers, chaired by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, to check community spread of the coronavirus pandemic and to prevent overcrowding at the Mandis in the light of the ensuing wheat harvesting/procurement season”. Akshay Kumar donates INR 3 crore to BMC for PPE, masks & test kits

According to the announcement by film critic Taran Adarsh, Akshay Kumar has donated INR 3 crore to Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation to assist in the making of masks, personal protection equipment (PPE) and rapid testing kits to help combat coronavirus. Northeast report first Covid-19 death

The Northeast reported its first death due to coronavirus disease Covid-19. A 65-year-old patient passed away at Silchar Medical College Hospital (SMCH), Assam. In Northeast the cases tallied to 34- Assam has a total of 29 Covid-19 positive cases till date and 28 of them have links to the Nizamuddin markaz (centre). Manipur (2), Mizoram (1), Tripura (1) and Arunachal Pradesh (1) are other states with positive cases, while Nagaland and Meghalaya don’t have any case yet. Src: https://bit.ly/2yQQQ43

Prisons in Maharashtra put under lockdown

In the five central prisons in Mumbai, Pune and Thane districts lockdown has been issued to prevent the spread of coronavirus among inmates, as per media reports. From now onwards no new inmates would be admitted and no one would be let out including the staff. The order applicable to Arthur Road jail and Byculla jail in Mumbai, jails in Thane and Kalyan, and Yerawada jail in Pune.
