India light lamps, candles to show unity in fight against COVID-19

Amid Coronavirus pandemic, people around the country switched off non-essential lights and stood in the balconies and verandas of their house with candles, lanterns and diyas (earthen lamps) tonight. People were following a call from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to challenge the darkness spread by the coronavirus crisis. On Friday the Prime Minister urged people to turn off lights, stand in their balconies and hold candles, diyas, and even mobile phone flashlights, for nine minutes in a nationwide show of solidarity. Today, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi contacted former President, former Prime Minister and minister to talk about Coronavirus. Telangana govt to cut salary of govt employees to tackle financial crisis

The Telangana government announced drastic pay cuts for all its govt employees, bureaucrats and public representatives to tackle financial position of the state amid coronavirus that has affected 77 people so far. The range of pay cuts lie from a minimum of 10 per cent to a maximum of 75 per cent. The decision was taken in a high-level meeting convened by CM K. Govt orders state to seal borders to stop migrants, ensure lockdown

Today, the Government has ordered states to seal borders to stop migrants workers travelling. They want labourers to stay where they are by providing food and shelter. The government have also asked to put people in 14-days quarantine who had returned to their native place. The states have been asked to stop incoming buses at the border.
