CJI Rajan Gogoi disappointed with delay in judgements passed by courts

The Chief Justice of India Rajan Gogoi expressed his concerns over the cases being delayed by the high court. Gogoi stated that a person had to wait for 20-25 years for a court to hear their cases. While giving a speech at the launch of book ‘post-Colonial Assam’, Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi said that the final draft of the National Register of Citizens (NRC) in Assam was not the document of the moment but a base for the future. He added that 19 lakh or 40 lakhs was not the point but it was a base document for the future.
