Global terrorism a challenge, Navy a guarantor of India's security: Rajnath Singh

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, while addressing the Naval Commanders' conference, stated that global terrorism continues to be a challenge for all security forces, and the sea routes have their own vulnerability. Singh further noted that the Indian Navy has taken several steps to strengthen coastal security framework to counter emerging threats and challenges effectively. He added that a strong navy remains a necessary guarantor of India's security and prosperity and the need for a modern, potent, and credible Navy cannot be over-emphasised. Indian Railways to spend INR 18,000 Cr to run trains at 160 kmph

Railway Board Chairman VK Yadav, after inaugurating the International Rail Conference-2019, stated that the railways will implement an INR 18,000 Cr project to operate trains at a speed of 160 kmph on the busy Delhi-Mumbai and Delhi-Kolkata routes by upgrading infrastructure. Yadav added that once the project begins, it will take at least four years to complete. Jammu and Kashmir: Three terrorists killed in encounter

In Jammu and Kashmir's Awantipora district, three terrorists have been killed in an encounter with security forces. As per the police, arms and ammunition have been recovered from the site. Identities and affiliations of the terrorists are being ascertained. IAF test-fires BrahMos surface-to-surface missiles successfully

In Andaman and Nicobar's Port Blair, the Indian Air Force (IAF) has fired two BrahMos surface-to-surface missiles at Trak Island, hitting the target successfully. As per media reports, the firings were conducted on October 21 and 22 which were carried out as part of the routine official training and the missile engaged the designated mock targets close to 300 kilometers away.
